O.K.  What's a picture seed?   It's a Fractal Explorer spot file, a little text file that tells Fractal Explorer about the picture it should draw.  It's all calculus, and while I admit to being a geek, I'm pretty ignorant as math geeks go, so all we need to know is to double click the 'seed' file (it has a .frs file extension), and the software does all the tedious math. 

Being a geek, I have some fairly tedious hobbies.  Oddly, this really isn't one of them.  It can be time consuming, if you let it, and it may take a while once you tell it to start rendering, but you can spend less than 2 minutes making changes and the final output will impress you more than the original version in the seed.

It will probably take 15 to 30 minutes to get the hang of it, but my free how-to videos will show you how to make the work quick and easy, and making art becomes a relaxing evening, hot cocoa or your favorite soothing beverage at hand, of adjusting a control or two, watching the results, sometimes leaning back for a minute or two to have a sip and let a low-res render run to see how the changes look.

Finished projects can take less than a minute or more than an hour to complete at the highest quality, but if you get one just right, and it looks like it's going to take forever, just open another one!  (Although, if I really like one of my pieces, I may just listen to music and watch for a half an hour as the image creeps across the screen.  Ahhh!  Need more cocoa!)

Once you know how, it's just as easy to start from scratch from one of the dozens of formulas built in to Fractal Explorer (the same formulas my seed collection started from).  If you are an experienced computer user you may not even need my tutorial videos, but they do include some suggestions on set up that can make FE easier to use.
